Data Sources
The AARP Livability Index draws from more than 50 different sources of data. Our technical advisory committee and policy and research experts choose metrics and policies that best measure the key aspects of livability within each category.
The metrics we use measure how livable communities are in the present, while policies measure how communities might become more livable over time based on actions taken now.
Below we share the sources for each metric and policy, organized by category of livability.
